Making Money with Articles: The Best Place to Place Affiliate Links on Your Website

Where you place your affiliate links on your website can really make a difference on how many clicks you end up getting and, since every click means a potential sale, this is an important aspect of internet marketing.

Research has shown that the most effective affiliate links are text links. Yes, plain text links. Not big flashy banner ads like most affiliate website are filled to the brim with. What happens is, you write a great article (or have one created) about the product or something related to the product and stick the link into your text. This allows interested readers to see the link as they are reading and click on it.

Of course, your article and your link have to work effectively together to make this happen. A bad article and an unrelated link to an unknown product are not likely to make the profits roll in.

So the next time you are out to choose an affiliate link, try placing a relevant link in a great article that is well optimized for search engines and see how it works out for you.

“You must always realize and believe that you are in business to make money … You must believe in yourself, trust your judgement and continuously expand your knowledge for your business to be successful.”

Allen Lundy,  Online Turnkey Solutions

Do you believe that you have what it takes to succeed in your Affiliate Marketing business?

My goal in writiting this article is to put you in the right mindset and teach you ONE key principle that will make all the difference as you venture into starting your own Affiliate Marketing business.

Let me be perfectly clear – people are making a LOT of money every single day on the Internet. However, very few people really succeed in realizing what must be done every day to actually make lots of money.

Every day, in good times and in not so good time, hundreds, thousands and more very sharp individuals, just like yourself, go to the Internet in search of financial freedom or additional money making opportunities.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize the huge potential the Internet offers anyone to make a decent income online.  However, it does take more, much more than a high intellect to be an online success.

It All Boils Down To Your Business Mindset.

I’m not a college professor or a psychologist, so I’m not going to get into any real technical jargon or talk about the “spirit within” or anything similar to this.

That is not what I mean when I speak of a Business Mindset.

What really matters is the way in which you approach Affiliate Marketing as a business. This approach will determine whether you will be a successful netprenuer or one that is not so successful.

Now, don’t take this wrong, but, IF you are like the majority of individuals seeking an online income, you are probably already looking at your online business the wrong way. Ok, You may be thinking – ‘Alright Allen what way am I looking at it?’

You are possibly looking at this business as if it were your immediate way out of debt, or that it is the easiest and quickest type of money making opportunity.

Now don’t get me wrong – there really is a lot of money to be made in Affiliate Marketing. I won’t deny that. But, right at this moment I’m not talking about making money with Affiliate Marketing.

Remember, this article is all about your business mindset.

Let me ask you this? How many of the following catch phrases look familiar to you?

“Make $10,000 per month by working just 2 hours a week!”

“Be financially independent in 30 days or less “

“Our Business-In-A Box is Guaranteed To Make You $50,000 A Year!”

Do those headlines look familiar? I’m pretty sure you have seen them or others that state basically the same thing. This type of business is seeking what are called opportunity seekers.

An opportunity seeker is somebody who is looking to make money online, but wants to do it with little work or effort. These individuals believe that if they look long enough they will find some “magic formula” that will solve all of their financial problems as well as bring them in a boat load of cash. Again, all without having to expend any effort, very little time and virtually no money.

When these opportunity seekers find what appears to be their shot at a pot of gold, they will get excited and try out the latest fad or “opportunity”. However, when this opportunity doesn’t turn into immediate cash within the first few weeks or months, they call it a scam and move on to the “next opportunity”.

Once these individuals have “tried” and failed numerous times, they eventually give up and say how they were scammed and that the Internet is full of scam artists, crooks and fakers all out to take their money. Next they ask “Is anybody really making money on the Internet”? Eventually, they end up going back to their 9 to 5 and watching TV.

But, believe it or not, after a few months they are back online again looking for more opportunities.

Now don’t get angry or upset if what I just stated sounds a little like you.  This was ME almost 5 years ago.  It is not completely your fault.

Seriously, back in the mid to late 90’s when Internet Marketing started to take off, (this was even before what is called Affiliate Marketing ever really existed) the Internet was a huge opportunity just waiting for those with a vision. Almost anyone that considered putting up even a basic website started to make really good monthly incomes. And many with foresite made a fortune very quickly.

Truth be told, MILLIONS of dollars were made by individuals with websites that today couldn’t pull in 50 visitors a day. Plus, most of the Internet Marketers back then didn’t have a clue how to run a website or know much about customer service.

Like the saying “All good things must end”, once the potential of Internet Marketing was identifed by others, that large amounts of money could be made quickly and easily on the Internet, it soon became a haven for “opportunity seekers’ who were out only to make a fast buck with very little effort and then move on to the next opportunity.

Those days and that type of Internet Marketing Business Are Long Gone!

If you start your Affiliate Marketing business properly… It will be a business that:

  • Will not die after only a few short months.
  • Will continue to grow and expand for years to come.
  • Will give you the financial security that you need in order to do what you want to do and when you want to do it.
  • Will give you the satisfaction in knowing you have worked for what you have earned.
  • Will put you in the position to help others in need, which is the most fulfilling thing that you will ever do in your life.

So how do you make sure you are in the proper business mindset?

Well, first off I want you to understand certain things about starting an affiliate marketing business:

1. It will require your TIME.

While there are ways to leverage the resources of others, you must be able to put time into getting your Affiliate Marketing business started. There is no magic set amount of time that you will be required to spend on your business, but I would say you need a minimum of 5 to 10 hours per week to get going.

2. It will require your MONEY.

If you just lost your job and you have no money, and your mortgage is coming due and you have bills that need to be paid, you are NOT in the position to get started with this type of business.

You absolutely will need to invest some of your own money into this business. Furthermore, it will take time before you make enough money each month to be able to survive, let alone be able to do things you are dreaming of doing..

My biggest suggestion is to have another source of income while you are starting out. I was and still am working a full-time job when I started my affiliate marketing business.

Once my business was strong enough I had the luxury of deciding if I wanted to quite my full time job and devote the same amount of hours to my affiliate marketing business. I decided to continue working my full time job (3 years until retirement) and I still devote almost 30 hours a week to my affiliate marketing business.

3. It will require your PATIENCE.

Your Affiliate Marketing business will most likely not be an overnight success (with a few rare exceptions).

You will not become a millionaire in the first week, or in the first month, and most likely not the first few years…If at all!

In fact, it will probably take a minimum of four to nine months to get to a point where you are able to rely on your Internet business to provide a steady income.

In all likelyhood, it will probably take between two to four years to build a very strong affiliate marketing business that will be able to last for years to come.

This type of business as you can see really requires your PATIENCE. Success will eventually come if you continue to work hard at making your business a success. Success absolutely WILL NOT come if you give up after only a few weeks or months and provide little or no effort or money to make your business a success..

4. It will require your PASSION.

If you are not passionate about starting your own Internet business, then stop right now, go back to your day job.

This business is not for the selfish or unpassionate. You must be ready to help others. You must love the idea of working for yourself. You must be ready to put your heart and soul into this business.

Only then will you have the ability to succeed.  Internet Marketing, especially Affiliate Marketing is not for everyone. Believe me, your customers will sense your passion and trust you more. Your JV partners and your own affiliates will enjoy working with you because they know you care.  Your business will grow naturally.

To your success,

Affiliate Marketing In 3 Steps

November 22nd, 2009 by admin

Affiliate marketing is a process where the merchant
will pay a portion of their sales revenue to an
affiliate if the sale is result of the affiliate’s
promotion to the products and services offered by
the merchant.

Now days, it’s one of the fastest growing industries
because it’s cost efficient and quantifiable for
both the affiliate and the merchant. Other players
can profit as well, such as the affiliate network
or the affiliate solutions provider.

The best benefit for the merchant is the fact that
he will gain opportunities to advertise his
products to a much larger market, therefore
increasing his chances to earn. The more affiliates
the merchant obtains, the more sales he can expect.

With the merchant having affiliates market his
products and services, he will save himself time,
effort, and money in looking for markets as well as
customers. The affiliate marketer will benefit
from each customer that clinks on the link in his
website and who actually purchases a product from
the merchant.

If you have wanted to join the growing legion of
affiliate marketers and have an unlimited potential
for income, simply follow these 3 steps to start
an effective affiliate marketing program.

1. Identify something that interests you or you
feel very passionate about. Then, focus on a
specific area you know a lot about, as this will
help you bring out your best and give your
visitors who are possible buyers a demonstration
of your expert in this field. This way, you’ll
gain their trust and encourage them to buy the
products that you endorse.

2. Search for merchants and products or services
that are related to your interest then creat a
web site with top level domain names and very
reliable hosting. When you choose the products
for your web site, you need to consider the
commission structure and the conversion rate.

There are many different affiliate networks and
affiliate solution providers where you can obtain
the information on most profitable products and
which merchants pay the best. Take your time -
and be sure you choose the right one.

3. Now, you are ready to promote. You’ve chosen
everything you need and even created your very own
website. You’ll need to be creative, flexible,
and willing to embrace new ideas. By this stage,
you’ll be well on your way to making more money
than you ever imagined – and enjoying every
minute of it.

Making Money with Articles: Where to Find Affiliates For Your Niche Website

To make money with articles that you place on websites, you will also need a variety of good affiliate links that will help to generate revenue. It is important that you know where to find affiliates and that you choose the best affiliates for you and your niche site.

When you pick an affiliate, it is important that you determine which companies you will profit best from based on the frequency that the product is likely to sell. There are several types of affiliates and some will offer you more money from a sale than others will. Before you get hazy-eyed by dollar signs, however, remember some products are bound to sell more than others. If you sell on product four times a year from a little known company that gives you $100 per sale or sell a well known product 3 times a week at the rate of $10 per sale, then you will make much more money with the $10 per sale product. Often times large well known companies will offer a very small profit per sale because they are established and know that their product is likely to sell well. Small, unknown companies, on the other hand, need all of the promotion they can get. Also, because they are unknown, their products are likely to sell less frequently.

The most important rule when picking affiliates to promote on your site is to pick products that would be of interest to those who would likely visit your niche site. Otherwise you will be promoting a product to a group of people who do not even want nor need it. If your niche site targets parents of young children, then promote baby products. If you niche site targets gardeners, then promote gardening products. If you promote baby products to gardeners, you are almost guaranteed to not make a profit no matter how much money the affiliate company offers for a sale.

Lastly, there are two main ways to find an affiliate company for your niche website. You can sign up with a company that manages the accounts of hundreds of companies, big and small, and apply for the products within these accounts or you can do a web search for companies that would match well with your niche, visit their websites, and see if they advertise an affiliate program.

If you can either write articles or have the promotion and marketing knowledge to publicize articles that others write, becoming an affiliate for several companies may be a great way for you to generate a good income right from your own home. You can do this by receiving part of the revenue off of sales that the company gets from people who click through from your website via the companys links that are placed on your pages.

Since you will be promoting a product or service, you will need a killer sales pitch and website content to get your readers interested in the product, convince them that they cannot live without the product, and to keep them coming back to your website time and time again for more recommendations and your useful content, which will get them clicking on your links once again. Although many affiliate companies only give you money off of the first sale you make from each customer, you have the option of promoting a good range of companies so that you can still make a profit off of your returning customers.

If you cannot write this kind of content of your own, there are many ways to pick up free or paid content to place on your affiliate website. There are many reasons why paying for such articles would be to your advantage. First, you will be able to tell the writer exactly what you want, what product you are trying to sell, and what direction they can go in to keep your readers interested and informed. On the other hand, when you search for free content, you are limited to what is already out there. Secondly, you will own the copyright to this content. That means that no one else can reuse it without your consent. If you opt for free content, you will be sharing that content with an unknown amount of other affiliate websites, plus the original author will be able to place their byline at the bottom of the article which could result in them stealing your traffic.

There are many products that have nice affiliate commission rates for those who know how to pre-sale their product and deliver click through customers who are ready to buy. As long as you choose to promote a product or service that can be very useful to a wide variety of people, then pre-selling your chosen company may not be that hard at all. The key in this situation may likely be getting those customers to your website so that they have a chance to see your recommendations and click on your affiliate links.

When it comes to survival in blogosphere, it’s all about connections. All those links and good word thrown in by happy and loyal readers and visitors do wonders for promoting your blog and spiking its traffic. And then, there are those e-mail listings e-mail addresses and names of people who just might be interested in becoming regular recipients of information and news from you. If you want to give your blog a fighting chance, here are 4 tips on how to promote your blog using e-mail listings:

Target, target, target.

If you have to start promoting your blog now, then start right. Carefully determine your ‘market’ the type of readership you want to focus on and the type of visitors you want to bring in. This can vary greatly, depending on the main theme of your blog.

Look at your main subject and the sub-topics you regularly write about. Who would want to read your blog on a regular basis? What kind of topics would they want to find in your blog? Once they find their way to your site, would they stick around and look at your other entries?

Would they participate in any polls, discussion boards and forums you might offer or at least leave a comment? Furthermore, would the people in your e-mail listings be willing to promote your blog to others or mention it on their own blogs? With a targeted e-mail listing, the answer to these questions is a resounding yes.

The point here is simple: the market for your blog is already out there. It’s now up to you to let them know who and what you are and where they can find you. By focusing on promoting your blog to highly targeted e-mail listings, you can avoid marketing to that segment of blog visitors that: a) are totally uninterested in what your blog has to offer, b) are only partly interested and cannot be relied on to stay for long and c) have vague interests and may or may not be willing to participate or sign up for your promotions.

Offer relevance at all times

If you are unable to use relevance in your invitations, it will be like throwing thousands of invitations to a violin concerto in a gym full of wrestling fans. You probably could hit a few bull’s eyes and some might be even willing to give your invite a try but the meager results will not compensate for the sheer effort and resources you will be using.

Avoid wasting your precious energy by ensuring that when you promote your blog using e-mail listings, it will be relevant enough for the recipients to respond positively to.

Be clear about your motives

The people who belong to your e-mail listings may be very familiar with the industry by now. When promoting your blog, make sure you state in clear terms what the blog is about, what subject(s) will be offered and how they can respond.

Don’t hide behind vague terms or try to be mysterious. Remember that your e-mail list has plenty of other options out there, blogs that are willing to state their offerings in clear, understandable language.

Allow your e-mail listings the freedom to opt out

So maybe you’ve garnered some terrific responses from your initial foray into opt-in subscriptions with your e-mail listing to promote your blog. Does that mean risking a percentage of that number to unsubscribe by offering an opt-out option? Definitely.

Allowing new members obtained from your e-mail listings to opt-out is not only polite, it also shows professionalism on your part. Withholding the opportunity for subscribers to unsubscribe is considered rude and makes you seem desperate for readers.

If you choose this method of retaining your readers, you risk being ridiculed in the industry. If word gets around, you could risk losing even more potential leads for your e-mail listings. To gain respect and eventually, a loyal following for your blog, promote it with your visitors’ interests in mind.

Email groups are important targets for your promotions, and gaining their support can go a long way in increasing the popularity of your blog.

Major Sample of Your Target Market

Email groups are created on the basis of shared interests or any other common factor. Email groups may be composed of people with the same hobby, living in the same area, or with the same occupation.

Whatever the reason an email group had for establishing itself, whats important is for you to determine whether they can match the profile of your target market. When it does, getting the group hooked to your blog instantly lets you kill several birds with just one click!

Unified Response

Another great thing about tapping on email groups is the kind of relationships members have with each other and how group decisions are made. In email groups, there is always a clear distinction between moderators and ordinary members. When moderators make a decision, members almost always automatically perform a similar action.

If you can manage to convince the moderators of the email group to visit your blog and maybe even link to it, you can expect the members to promote your blog as well. Convince the one that matters and you win all!

Variety

As weve mentioned earlier on, email groups are established for varying reasons. It is unlikely, therefore, that you won find any email group matching the description of your target market. As such, you should take the time to browse through email group directories. Pay attention to the information theyve provided for their group and youll know whether theyre likely to be interested in your blog or not.

How to Tap on Email Groups

Now that youre aware of the importance of email groups, here are a few tips to effectively promote your blog through them.

Join the Group

Your messages will be welcomed more warmly if you join their group first. To do so, youll usually need a valid email address, pass their security test, and maybe explain your reason for joining.

While its always good to be candid, it wouldnt hurt to mention any other reason you may have besides wanting a chance to promote your blog. If youre stuck for a reason, try thinking of yourself as an ordinary member instead. Think of the benefits youll enjoy from joining the group and make sure to mention that.

Know the rules

Every email group has rules for members to follow. Make sure you learn these carefully so that you avoid unknowingly violating any of their rules. Abiding by them as you start posting your messages to the group is sure to endear yourself to other members as well.

Introduce yourself

Before posting any message, its important to introduce yourself to other members. Remember to thank them for letting you join their group and take the time to get to know them as well. Introducing yourself is a great way to direct the conversation to your blog and from there, youll able to start on your marketing plan.

Return the favor

Last but not the least, remember to return the favor. If the email groups youve joined are working hard to promote your blog, you should return the favor and promote them as well. Doing that is good karma, and thats never bad for your business!

Wahm Blogs

November 19th, 2009 by admin

Blogs are here to stay, and many Wahms are taking advantage of the trend. Making money with blogs is a popular choice for many work at home moms. Blogs are simple to set up, and relatively easy to update. This is especially true when you compare blogs to other types of websites. Within just a few minutes, you can set up a professional looking blog for free and start your Wahm blogging business.

A blog is an easy to update website that looks sort of like a journal. Entries are made at a minimum of each week, and the newest entries appear at the top. Entries are normally short articles of 200 to 500 words. Readers visit the blog or read the new blog entries through a blog reading program. Readers can also comment on entries and provide links between their own blogs and your blog.

With blogs, the opportunities are wide open. Choosing a blog topic is as easy as looking at your own life for inspiration. There are blogs about everything from celebrity news to bathroom cleaning tips. Before you start a blog, do some research on the Internet to see if people are interested in your possible blog topic. Your topic doesnt have to be popular, but it does have to have a dedicated group of people who are interested in the topic.

When you pick a topic, make sure to stay within a fairly small niche. The term niche is used to describe a group of people who have a similar interest. There are big niches like working at home and small niches like tips for training your cat to sit on the toilet. Try to find a happy medium between a popular topic and a niche interest so your blog has plenty of readers. Some topics, like working at home or parenting, are too broad and have too much competition for readers.

You can set up your blog through a free blogging platform, like www.blogger.com or www.wordpress.com. There are also a half dozen others to choose from. The blogging platform will walk you through making your first entry into your blog.

After youve made a few entries into your blog, its time to monetize your blog. This means youll be making specific changes to your blog in order to make money. One of the most popular ways to gain income from a blog is by using a contextual advertising program, like Google Adsense or Chitika. Contextual advertising pays you for each time a reader clicks on one of the advertising links on your page. The advertising program will scan your blog entries for keywords, and then place advertising on your page that relates to your page content.

For example, if you have a blog on childrens television and write an article about Sesame Street, the ads appearing next to that article will have to do with that program. They might be links to shopping for Sesame Street items, or an ad for vintage Sesame Street collectables selling on ebay.

One thing to note with contextual advertising is that you wont have to worry about placing the ads yourself each day. Once you enter the code on your blog, the program will automatically refresh the advertising when you make a new post. You will be paid several cents for each click. It doesnt seem like a lot per click, but it sure does add up quickly.

Contextual advertising is just one way to make money from your Wahm blog. You can also make product recommendations and suggest information products (e-books) to your readers. Each time someone buys a product you recommend, you will get a commission. Many bloggers find that making gentle product recommendations throughout their blogs are a way to garner extra income.

Finally, some companies will pay bloggers to create posts that suggest certain products or services. These companies pay a few dollars per post, and are fairly easy to use. The only drawback is that youll have advertising posts throughout your blog content. However, many bloggers have found a way around this by putting And now a word from our sponsers at the beginning of each of their required advertising posts. This helps the advertising appear less intrusive.

Say No to Forum Spamming

November 18th, 2009 by admin

When you are speaking with children, repeating yourself may sometimes be the key to getting yourself heard and understood. But youre not speaking to children when youre posting the same message over and over in forums, are you? Since youre not, isnt it safe to conclude that such tactics wont work? Worse, they can even backfire on you! Here are five good reasons to avoid spamming in forums.

It Annoys Moderators

Spamming is considered a blackhat SEO technique, and most, if not all, forum moderators do not tolerate it. Other forum members are sure to report you and when a moderator finally takes notice, youll certainly have your membership suspended if not revoked immediately and permanently.

There are several reasons why spamming will annoy moderators. Firstly, its their job to keep other members happy and what youre doing is the opposite. You are, therefore, giving them extra trouble to deal with. Secondly, spamming consumes web space and web space costs money. Spamming also makes use of bandwidth, and that costs money, too. By spamming, you are forcing moderators to spend money on something they dont consider acceptable.

It Irritates Other Members

Again, there are plenty reasons why forum members arent happy with your spamming. First of all, these people consider your messages a waste of time. By posting the same message over and over, you force them to spend precious seconds on just scrolling the window until they reach a message that you havent posted.

You also make back reading difficult for them. Instead of being able to read all the information they need from one page, you force them to load a new one just to get to the next important message.

Once members realize that you are knowingly practicing spamming, they wont take your actions lying down. Besides reporting you to moderators, they can also submit your name to concerned agencies that are against unlawful and undesirable Internet marketing tactics. They can also spread the word about your not-so-nice marketing techniques and before you know it, youll be banned from every forum in the Internet.

It Doesnt Work

Adults are different from children. Theyre already smart and mature enough to understand a simple lesson at the first try. Repeating the same message over and over, as it is, is unnecessary.

Now, if youre practicing spamming in hopes of convincing people to try out your product or service, youre going about the wrong way, too. To convince a person, repetition is not needed. Instead, you need to give people different reasons to change their minds. The more reasons you give them, the greater chances youll have of convincing them to see things your way. But if you stubbornly sticking to one reason then youll achieve nothing.

Forum Marketing Strategies to Replace Spamming

You should be convinced by now of the utter futility of spamming in forums. Dont wait till your online business collapse before you decide to change your ways. Use a different not to mention legitimate technique now and you wont regret it.

To help you get started, consider providing valuable contribution that showcases your expertise. Choose questions that you can answer as an expert. Get to know other people in the forum and build relationships with them. Post your link in your profile page and signature. Last but not the least, use a cool username to get more attention!
